SEPT-ÎLES, December 1, 2020 – Mr. Darren Colwell, Chairman of the Owners Committee of Aluminerie Alouette, announces today the appointment of a new President and Chief Executive Officer for the largest aluminum smelter of the Americas. Mr. Claude Gosselin is appointed to this position and will take office next January. He succeeds to Michel Huot, who has been acting since June.
"We are pleased to welcome Mr. Gosselin again, who will undoubtedly be able to pursue the mission of excellence of Aluminerie Alouette with his team", says Mr. Colwell. "His 25 years of service give him a wide range of management knowledge in the aluminum industry and he is well aware of regional characteristics," he adds.
The trainee who became President and Chief Executive Officer
It is a return to his roots for Mr. Gosselin, who began and spent a large part of his career at the Sept-Îles aluminum smelter. Originally from the North Shore, after obtaining his diploma in industrial relations, he was recruited as an advisor and then progressed to the position of vice-president, first in human resources and corporate affairs, then in operations and maintenance. In recent years, he has also diversified his area of expertise by working as a high-level manager in the fields of biomass, construction and industrial maintenance across Quebec.
"I'm coming home," states Claude Gosselin. "I look forward to meeting old colleagues and new ones to continue, together, to move this great organization forward, so important to all of us," adds the new president. Furthermore, the family man will settle in the Sept-Îles-Port-Cartier region, like all the executive members of Aluminerie Alouette. He specifies that he wants to meet quickly the employees and members of the community to continue the partnership work and thus continue Excelling, Together.
The organization looks forward to welcoming Mr. Claude Gosselin and would like to warmly thank Mr. Michel Huot for the work accomplished during his interim mandate ending in December.
